Censored Identity is an experimental short film investigating the concept of censored identity through the life of a homeless man. An identity is censored for situations like the protection of witnesses in a crime threat. However for this project the protagonist wants to hide from his past and chooses the streets of London to do so.
My experimental idea was to censor the character through camera movement and position, using focus pulls and avoiding direct contact with any of the characters faces. An aesthetic choice to further confuse and censor the protagonist from the viewer. The short is based on urban stories that happen to homeless people everyday that I sourced and mixed into one sequence.
“We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty.” Mother Teresa
